Children and Adolescents Mental Health Services (CAMHS)

Since 2021, I have been working with adolescents who have been admitted to mental health units due to serious conditions including psychosis, depression, anxiety and eating dissorders, self-harm and suicidal thinking.

Aiming to facilitate a non judgemental safe environment in which creativity can be explored and used expressively, I share different techniques such as clay exploration, collage, dyeing, knotting, beading, felting and weaving. These can be related in their repetitive actions and their haptic qualities, which make them meditative and grounding ways of making and soothing anxieties and allow the possibility of joy, of pleasure and sometimes even desire, which is so important in these cases.
