Using clay as a primary element for grounding ourselves and honouring the memory linked to our hands. Exploring tactility and natural materials, shaping different textures, ideas and possibilities.
I find clay to be such a noble, democratic and generous material. It is in almost every soil and it is found everywhere in the planet. I always enjoy working with clay and do so with many different age groups and communities. It is always such an enjoyable and nurturing experience.
On these sessions in particular, where I worked with young refugees who would have recently arrived to London. We went out foraging for natural elements in local parks to then interact with the clay and made different games, exploring ideas of home, wellbeing and community.
