Commissioned to work in collaboration with twelve KS2 students from Chisenhale Primary School across the summer term, I facilitated a series of workshops which focused on exploring participatory art making using natural materials such as botanical pigments, clay, dried plants and flowers in an intuitive and playful way.
Through the sessions we aimed to connect with our bodies and senses and explore new -old- ways of making and the value of interacting and learning from -and with- the natural world.
We ended up making two big flower printed and botanically dyed textile pieces and many clay amulets. We showed these works as part of the Future Artists exhibition that took place on 16 September 2023 at Chisenhale Gallery and one of the pieces was done to the school to be displayed permanently.
